Data migration service

We are confident that we can carry out a successful data migration project from any readable data source.

We have experience migrating data from a wide range of data sources, such as:

• Documents and spread sheets.
• Desktop database platforms (Paradox, dBase, Microsoft Access etc).
• Relational databases (SQLite, Microsoft SQL Server etc).
• Geographic information system (Esri ArcGIS, Autocad etc).
• Multi value databases (Advanced Revelation, OpenInsight etc).

The migration process

Data migration is a carried out as a two stage process. After we have received the data, we will first convert the data to an accessible format, and organize the original data in a manner that we find more comprehensible. The next phase is to map all the data to the relevant parts of our system. Most of the data migration is usually straightforward, but some aspects can be more difficult. In certain cases, we may locate usage that is not directly supported in IrisBG, in which case we will either add support for this type of data, or we will decide in collaboration with the customer how to move this data over. Most importantly, we do ensure that all data is moved over.

Data migration is supervised by a software engineer with a degree in botany. In addition to moving the data over, we also carry out some data laundry. We are confident that we can provide a very high level of service and ensure that all the data integrity is kept intact and most importantly, that the knowledge recorded over time is transmitted as transparently as possible. As part of service, we also supply the customer with a data migration report when the project is completed.

What do we charge?

Each individual project can vary considerably both in complexity and data quality. For this reason, we price each project independently. After having received a copy of your data, we will be able to give a fixed price for the work.
