Hi
In The Arboretum and Botanical Garden, University of Bergen, the largest collections in numbers of taxa is the genus Rhododendron, counting more than 1000 valid names. To keep track of this, we need to adopt a subgeneric nomenclature to be able to search, sort and report data on smaller groups of species or cultivars in a sensible way. The most rational way, it seems to me, will be to adopt the formal catagories Subgenus, Section, and Subsection for species within Genus, and the less formal Hybrid group for the cultivars within (notho)species. To accomplish this, we need to have the main TAXON table expanded with the necessary number of columns. The same must be available as fileds for entering data in the TAXON window under "Details" together with the Family field or in a separate new folder. Accompanying the Subgenus, Section and Subsection fields there should be a field for entering the appropriate Authority reference, and accordingly with the "Hybrid group" field there should be an accompanying field for entering a reference (all together 8 columns/fields, minimum).
